Decision Point

The precipice so near the prairie

A turn of heel makes the difference

Sideways; a flat valley of easy fields

Head on; a cliff overhang dropping

It menaces,

      goads,

            dares,

                   beckons

I have means to travel either

But not knowing which

The suspense is

      teasing,

               unbearable,

                        endless
