I am Naïve, let me count the ways:
I am Naïve because
I believed that the slate was clean – this time
when I knew it wasn’t, “it wouldn’t matter”
when it did, I thought mind could overcome heart
when it didn’t, denial seemed reasonable
when denial wasn’t strong enough, I believed I would be
when I wasn’t, I let hope color the lens
when the color was stripped away,
I saw light instead of void
